on against the Saints.

The Mount was shutout 10-0 in the opener and then fell to the Saints 11-5 in the backend of the twinbill. Junior Mike Pope (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Mike Ruzzo (Bronx, N.Y.) each collected two hits for the Dolphins in game two.

The Mount Saint Vincent offense was smothered in the opener by the Saints' Jeff Adams. Adams worked his first career complete game shutout, allowing just three base hits and fanning seven. Anthony Mongelli (Queens, N.Y.) took the loss for the Dolphins after allowing four runs on six hits in 4.2 innings. He stuck out four in the outing, but walked five.

The game was a pitcher's duel for the first four innings until the Saints pushed across four runs in the fifth inning. They then responded with a pair of tallies in the sixth and then four more runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win. Sean Claugherty led the way for St. Scholastica by going 2-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBI.

The Mount Saint Vincent bats showed life in game two on Monday, generating nine hits and pushing across their only five runs of the day. The Dolphins quickly jumped on Saints' starter Jake Nystrom for three runs in the top of the first. Mike Ruckdaschel (East Meadow, N.Y.) supplied a run scoring double for the Mount's first run of the contest.

The St. Scholastica offense would pick right up where it left off in the tail end of game one by plating single runs in the first and second innings and then pushing across three in the third and exploding for six in the fifth.

Mount Saint Vincent starter Matt Calandrillo (Haldane, N.Y.) would allow five runs overall, four earned, on just three hits in 2.2 innings. He would walk seven in the outing. Nystrom settled in for the Saints to earn the win, allowing just two more runs after the first inning.

Pope finished game two 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Mount, while Ruzzo went 2-3 with a run. Kevin Coogan (Bronx, N.Y.) drove in a team-high two runs for the Mount.

The sweep drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-3 on the southern trip and to 3-6 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Wednesday afternoon when they close out the trip with a set against Delaware Valley. First pitch in Fort Pierce is slated for 12:00 p.m.
