Corey Kirsh (East Medeaow, N.Y.) fired 7.1 innings against Old Westbury on Saturday.
The Dolphins were out hit 18-5 on Friday against the top-seeded Rams and fell behind early when Farmingdale St. plated seven runs in the home half of the third inning. The Dolphins answered with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Farmingdale retook the seven run advantage with two more tallies in its half of the fourth inning. After being held scoreless in the first two frames, the Rams scored in five of their final six at-bats to secure the win.
Mike Pope (Massapequa, N.Y.) collected two of the Mount's five hits in the game and Mike Ruckdaschel (East Meadow, N.Y.) finished with a double and a run scored for the Dolphins. Blackford drove in the Mount's only two runs of the contest.
Farmingdale St. (24-13) had five players finish with multiple hits in the game led by a 4-5 effort from Don Moscatelli and a 3-4 day from leadoff man Frank Yera. Moscatelli drove in a pair of runs, scored three and also finished with a double and a triple. Yera connected on a home run for the Rams and also scored two runs.
Christopher Batista (Bronx, N.Y.) took the loss for the Dolphins and dropped to 2-1 on the season. He worked 4.0 innings and allowed nine runs, seven earned, on 11 hits. He fanned three Rams and walked just one in the outing. Tom Heeman picked up the win and moved to 7-2 on the season and working 7.0 effective innings. He allowed just the two runs on five hits and struck out two.
On Saturday against Old Westbury the Dolphins pounded out 10 hits but could only push across single runs in the second, third and fourth innings. The Panthers took advantage of five Mount Saint Vincent errors in the game, with the Dolphins allowing five unearned runs to score in the tilt.
Ruckdaschel, Nick Triolo (Homer, N.Y.) and Vinny Todino (Eastchester, N.Y.) each collected two hits in the game for the Mount with Ruckdsachel ripping another double and Triolo legging out a triple. Ruckdaschel, Brendan Russo (Westbury, N.Y.) and Todino all drove in a run for the Dolphins and Triolo led the team with two runs scored.
Kirsh worked an effective 7.1 innings for the Dolphins in the contest but was hurt by the five errors. He surrendered six hits in the outing and allowed six runs to score, but only one of the tallies was earned. He struck out three batters and walked just one. Dan Fordyce picked up the win for the Panthers after working 7.0 innings. He allowed the three Mount runs on nine hits in the outing. He fanned nine Dolphins against just one walk in the win.
The two losses drop Mount Saint Vincent to 19-16 overall on the season. The Dolphins will await word on an ECAC Tournament bid, with the announcement coming on Monday.
