The University of Mount Saint Vincent Department of Athletics announced the promotion of
Danielle Carr as the new head coach of the women's tennis program. Carr was the team's assistant coach in its first season since 2009.
Carr has extensive experience at both the University and with Skyline Conference rivals, including this past women's tennis season, the program's first since 2009. She served as an assistant women's tennis coach at UMSV during the Fall 2025 season, gaining valuable experience within the program prior to stepping into the head coaching role.
Before returning to Riverdale, Carr spent seven seasons as the head women's tennis coach at Yeshiva University from 2017 to 2024, where she led all aspects of the program, including recruiting, match preparation, and player development, while also earning a Skyline Conference championship in 2017.
Carr has remained active at the high school level in addition to her stint within collegiate athletics. Carr is currently the JV boys' tennis coach at Blind Brook High School and also coached modified boys' tennis at the school. Carr also had prior coaching roles at New Rochelle High School, The Masters School, and the School of the Holy Child. Her coaching resume also includes work with the New York Junior Tennis League, City Parks Foundation, and various youth development programs throughout the region, highlighting her long-standing commitment to growing the game at all levels.
Alongside her coaching career, Carr has built an impressive teaching portfolio in higher education. She is currently an adjunct lecturer in Sport Science and Professional Tennis Management at Manhattanville University, while also continuing her near 10-year role as an adjunct lecturer in English at the University of Mount Saint Vincent. She has also taught English literature and writing at the City College of New York for nearly a decade and has held previous teaching roles at Mercy College and the College of New Rochelle.
Carr played tennis collegiately at Division-I Siena College, where she graduated in 2006 with her Bachelor of Arts in English.
