Chris Pennell joins the College of Mount Saint Vincent's coaching staff for the 2020 season. Coach Pennell will work with pitchers and catchers, as well as the team's first base coach. This will be Coach Pennell's second season coaching at the collegiate level. He served as the assistant pitching coach at Saint Thomas Aquinas College in 2019.Â
Coach Pennell played four years at Saint Thomas Aquinas College, primarily as a reliever. Over his four year career at STAC, Coach Pennell registered 131 strikeouts over 120 inningd, as well as posting an impressive career ERA of 1.88. Coach Pennell helped lead STAC to two ECC Championships, four regional appearances, a regional championship and a trip to the Division-II College World Series.Â
After college, Coach Pennell agreed to his first professional contract with the Rockland Boulders in the CanAm league. During his stint with the Boulders, Coach Pennell recorded three starts, finishing 1-0 with 13 strikeouts over 17.2 innings of work. Coach Pennell continued his professional career in 2018 with the Lake Erie Crushers in the Frontier League and the High Point Rockers in the Atlantic League.Â
