Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent battled William Paterson University to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon at Marillac Field, with a physical showdown with limited opportunities highlighting the afternoon of play.
The Dolphins earned their second consecutive positive result to open the season, moving to 1-0-1 overall following a defensive battle that saw neither side find the back of the net.
Joey Wiant was strong between the posts for UMSV, recording four saves to earn the clean sheet. He's allowed just one goal in 180 minutes of play since being named the starting goalkeeper on opening day. Sean Doyle and Jose Gonzalez each placed a shot on goal for the Dolphins, including a penalty kick opportunity for Gonzalez in the waning minutes of the contest. Manuel Vidal led the team with two shots.
Mount Saint Vincent generated four shots in the opening half before William Paterson increased its pressure in the second period. Wiant and the Dolphin defense held firm, keeping the visitors off the scoreboard through all 90 minutes.
With the draw, the Dolphins remain unbeaten to begin the 2026 campaign and will return to action on Wednesday against Yeshiva University at home.
