Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent held a second-half lead before Manhattanville rallied with two late goals, including the game-winner with just 1:13 remaining, as the Dolphins fell 3-3-1 in conference play on Tuesday night on Marillac Field.
After a scoreless opening half, UMSV broke through in the 50th minute when freshman Cole Zent headed home a cross from Manuel Vidal for his first career collegiate strike to give the Dolphins a 1-0 advantage. The lead lasted just over three minutes, however, before Manhattanville leveled the match in the 53rd minute.
The Dolphins continued to pressure throughout the second half, finishing with 16 shots and 12 corner kicks. Marti Senyer recorded a team-high three shots, while Vidal, Jenluis Henriquez and John Brienza each put a shot on target.
With the match appearing headed for a draw, Manhattanville found the deciding goal in the 89th minute to take a 2-1 lead.
Miguel Fierro kept UMSV within striking distance throughout the night, making seven saves. The Dolphins also held a 16-9 advantage in shots and an 12-2 edge in corner kicks.
UMSV moves to 4-3-2 overall and will look to return to the win column on Saturday against Mount Saint Mary College.
