Bronx, NY - After dropping the opening set, the University of Mount Saint Vincent flipped the momentum and stormed back for a 3-1 victory over Lehman College Thursday night at The APEX. The win snapped an eight game losing skid and improved the Dolphins' overall record to 3-8 on the year.
UMSV fell 25-23 in the first set before answering with three straight wins, taking the second set, 25-20, before dominating the third and fourth, 25-12 and 25-8.
Senior Dominique Otranto led the Dolphins with 10 kills and a .692 hit percentage, while senior Alysa Padgett added eight kills and 10 digs of her own. Sophomore Anna Nolasco recorded seven kills and seven digs, with freshman Amya Aviles contributing five kills.
Stephanie Rodriguez orchestrated the offense with 25 assists and added five service aces, while Gabrielle Mills chipped in three aces and eight digs. Padgett also recorded three aces as UMSV finished with 13 as a team.
The Dolphins closed out the match in impressive fashion, hitting .310 in the fourth set while limiting Lehman to just one kill and eight points.
UMSV returns home for a Skyline Conference battle against Sarah Lawrence College on October 7.
