Newark, NJ - The University of Mount Saint Vincent struggled against New York University on Sunday evening, as they dropped the non-conference showdown 3-0. The Dolphins move to 2-3-1 overall through the early goings of the season.
NYU opened the scoring just 1:31 into the contest and carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime. UMSV generated three shots in the opening half, with senior Eva Puentes putting one on target, while junior Kerrigyn Lynam and freshman Kiana Navarette each adding a shot.
The Violets added a pair of goals in the second half, scoring in the 69th and 73rd minutes to extend the lead to 3-0. UMSV continued to battle defensively, but NYU finished the half with 19 stotal hots.
Kaitlyn Grady turned in a strong performance in goal for the Dolphins, making 10 saves on 13 shots on target.
The Dolphins will look to improve their strong conference start on Wednesday when they travel nearby to Purchase to take on the Panthers.
