Brooklyn, NY - After a rain out canceled the original season opener, the University of Mount Saint Vincent took the court for the first time in 2026, traveling to Brooklyn College to face off against the Bulldogs. The Dolphins ultimately fell to Brooklyn, 7-0, in non-conference action.
UMSV opened doubles play with a competitive 7-5 result at No. 1, where Alyssa Mendoza and Kayla Wallack battled Brooklyn's top pairing. Kaitlyn Mendez and Zoe Fields competed at No. 2 doubles, while Jadamarie Henry and Newone Samuels teamed at No. 3.
Mendoza and Mendez also competed at the top two singles positions, while Fields pushed her No. 3 singles match to a third-set tiebreaker. Fields won the opening set, 6-4, before Brooklyn rallied to take the second set, 6-2, and the deciding tiebreaker, 10-3.
Wallack, Henry and Samuels rounded out the Dolphins' singles lineup at Nos. 4-6, respectively.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action Sunday against Marywood College.Â
