Riverdale, NY — The University of Mount Saint Vincent earned a hard fought, 3-0 victory Wednesday evening, scoring three times in the second half to remain unbeaten on the season. The win was over Yeshiva University was also the first in conference play, with the Dolphins now sporting a 2-0-1 record.
After a scoreless opening half, John Brienza broke through in the 49th minute to give the Dolphins the lead. Marti Senyer doubled the advantage in the 82nd minute after converting an impressive corner attempt, and Manuel Vidal added an insurance goal just 1:42 later with Senyer providing the assist.
Senyer led the Dolphins with three points, while Brandon Brad Leon recorded a team-high five shots, including two on goal.
UMSV controlled the offensive pressure throughout the contest, finishing with a 21-6 advantage in shots and a 12-5 edge in shots on goal. Joey Wiant made five saves to earn the shutout, and has now allowed just one goal across 270 minutes played this season. Defenders Sean Doyle, Jacob Greiffenberger and Adam Klak played a major role in stifling the Maccabees offensive attack.
The Dolphins are set to hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday when they head upstate to take on Bard College.
