Capozucca's Walk Off Single Caps Off Senior Day Split With SJLI

Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent split a doubleheader with St. Joseph's University Long Island Golden Eagles, rallying for a dramatic win in game one before dropping the nightcap. The night was also one that saw UMSV's seniors honored, including Savannah Autobee, Emma Capozucca, Simone Caruso and Miralba Sandez.

The Dolphins showed resilience in a come-from-behind 5-4 victory. Emma Capozucca got things started early with an RBI double, and after falling behind 4-2, UMSV answered in the sixth when Kailyn Trigos delivered a clutch two-run single to tie the game. In the seventh, Capozucca came through again, driving in the go-ahead run to seal the win. Carmen Henderson also contributed with an RBI double as the Dolphins' offense came alive late.

Autobee went the distance in the opener, allowing just three earned runs scattered across seven innings.

Game two saw the Golden Eagles take control early with a five-run second inning and never look back. The Dolphins chipped away with RBI efforts from Chloe Hart and Kendra Rodriguez, followed by run-scoring hits from Trigos and Simone Caruso to cut into the deficit. SJLI continued to add insurance runs throughout the middle and late innings, pulling away for a 13-4 win.

The Dolphins will look to keep their playoff hopes alive when they challenge Old Westbury on Sunday.
