Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent continued their success in Skyline play, delivering a dominant performance against Purchase. The Dolphins from in all areas for a majority of the contest, rolling past the Panthers 18-7.
UMSV now sits at 3-1 in conference play with the postseason tournament on the horizon.
The Dolphins came out firing in the opening quarter, exploding for nine unanswered goals to gain complete control early. Junior Chai Dunlap led the charge with multiple goals in the frame, while freshmen Thomas Vallely and Josiah Johnson-Charles each added a pair. Junior Alfred Lamptey and Logan Charboneau also found the back of the net as UMSV built a commanding 9-0 lead after one.
The Dolphins continued to add on in the second, with Dunlap netting another goal to push the lead to 10-0 before Purchase finally got on the board late in the half.
Purchase showed signs of life in the third quarter, scoring four straight goals to cut into the deficit, but the Dolphins quickly responded in the fourth. UMSV erupted for eight goals in the final period to put the game away, with Isaac Parsons and Mattias Remes each contributing multiple scores down the stretch. Brandon Mestres also added a pair of goals in the quarter to help seal the win.
Chai Dunlap led the Dolphins with a standout performance, recording five goals and three assists. Thomas Vallely added a pair of strikes on his own, while Mattias Remes finished with two goals and an assist.
The Dolphins also dominated both the possession game and defensively. Nathanial Simpson received the first start in his young career and proved the decision right, going 11-of-14 with six ground balls. Lamptey, meanwhile, went eight of nine while Cal Denier was perfect in his five attempts. Lamptey and Denier also combined for 12 ground balls.
Walker Moore led the charge defensively with a game-high five caused turnovers, while Mestres, Harrison Chapman, Henry Carpenter and Sergio Romero had two apiece.
Max Mills saved four shots across three quarters of play.
The Dolphins continue their quest to its first ever Skyline postseason appearance on Saturday when they head to Throgs Neck to challenge Maritime.
