In game one, the Dolphins struck early and never looked back. Kaitlyn Trigos opened the scoring in the first, and UMSV broke the game open with a four-run second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Simone Caruso and an RBI double from Keira Stroud. After Lehman trimmed the deficit in the second, the Dolphins responded with another big inning in the fourth. Game two followed a similar script, with the Dolphins erupting for five runs in the opening inning. Lehman answered with three runs in the bottom half, but UMSV quickly regained control, plating four runs in the second and adding on throughout the middle innings. A five-run fifth inning put the game out of reach, as the Dolphins cruised to a 15-5 victory to complete the sweep.
Holly Otte earned the victory in game two, pitching four innings with three punch outs.Â
Stroud led the way with five hits on the day, including four with four RBI in game one. Trigos, Simone Caruso, Zoe Fields and Miralba Sandez had a pair of hits each, while Caruso added three RBI.Â
Trigos, Fields and Riley Van Pelt paced the Dolphins with two hits apiece in game two while Trigos and Mendoza each drove in a pair of runs.Â
