Riverdale, NY - Fresh off the heels of a big Skyline win over Purchase, the University of Mount Saint Vincent returned to Marillac Field to take on Mount Saint Mary College. The Knights, however, were the team that walked away with a win, besting the Dolphins by the score of 13-3.
The Dolphins are now an even .500 in conference play and are 1-6 overall this season.
The Knights struck early with two goals within the first five minutes of play, but freshman
Nevaeh Martin helped get her team back into it. The Boston native broke the scoring drought with an advantage goal to make it a 2-1 game, and added another strike in the second quarter to bring the score to 4-2.
That, however, would be as close as the Dolphins would get. Mount Saint Mary rattled off three straight goals before
Ella Meberg scored her 21st goal of the year, and then finished the contest scoring six consecutive goals.
Goaltender
Makenna Reekie made 17 saves in net while leading the charge with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Laziza Azimova recorded a team-best three draw controls while
Brittany Boyle added a pair of ground balls as well.
The Dolphins look to Wednesday when they welcome Old Westbury to Marillac Field.
