Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent kicked off Skyline play with a contest against Manhattanville University, who they ultimately fell to by the score of 9–5 on Saturday afternoon.
UMSV kept things tight all game long. Senior
Ella Meberg continued the hot start to her senior season, scoring the first two goals for her team to make it a 3-2 contest in the second quarter.
Isabelle Gurley followed suit with a two goal run of her own, as she went back-to-back to tie things up with just over eight minutes remaining in the half.
UMSV would once again keep things close, with
Nevaeh Martin's strike bringing the score to five all in the third. The Valiants, however, would go on a four goal run to close out the contest, ultimately winning by that amount.
Gurley finished with a game best three points, with an assist added to her two goal effort. Martin also recorded an assist in additon to her strike. Gurley also secured four draw controls, while goalkeeper
Makenna Reekie led the way in ground balls (six) and caused turnovers (three) in addition to 11 saves.
The Dolphins will look to secure their first win of the season on Tuesday against Purchase College.
