Myrtle Beach, SC - The University of Mount Saint Vincent finished their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach with a finale against FDU-Florham. The Dolphins struggled against the undefeated Devils, dropping the contest by the score of 13-3.
UMSV went 2-5 down south, with wins over SUNY Poly and Principia.
The Devils took control early, scoring six runs in the opening inning and adding another six in the second to build a 12–0 lead after two frames. The Dolphins were held off the board through the first two innings as they looked to settle in against the Devils' early offensive surge.
UMSV responded in the third inning with its strongest stretch of the game, plating three runs. Paige Goerman delivered an RBI single to get the Dolphins on the board, while Ireyshka Lebron and Lily Walsh each drove in a run to cap the rally. Goerman, Samantha Aviles and Miralba Sandez each crossed the plate in the inning to help cut into the deficit.
The Dolphins were unable to build further momentum over the final two innings, as FDU-Florham added one more run in the third and held UMSV scoreless the rest of the way.
At the plate, Goerman led the way with a hit and an RBI, while Emma Capozucca, Zoe Fields, Carmen Henderson and Gracie Laukkanen each recorded a hit. Walsh providing a solid relief effort by allowing just one run over the final 2.1 innings.
The Dolphins head back to New York and will prepare for a Friday double header against the University of St. Joseph.
