Dolphins Keep Pace With Bears Before Falling Late

Brooklyn, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent looked to continue their recent hot stretch, but the run was halted by St. Joseph's University Brooklyn. After three straight wins, the Dolphins fell to the Bears by the tight score of 56-51, dropping UMSV to 5-15 on the year.

Grace Kennedy led the scoring for UMSV with 13 points, hitting five of her 15 field goal attempts and converting free throws down the stretch. Michaela Ligon was strong on the boards, pulling down seven rebounds while adding eight points of her own, and Angelina Escobinas made an impact with nine points and active play on both ends.

Julia Angeles contributed six boards and four assists, showing her all-around effort, and Kyla McLean provided valuable energy off the bench with three points, three rebounds, and three steals. The Dolphins also got useful minutes and hustle plays from Grace Giacinto and Olivia Dutzer, helping keep UMSV in striking distance throughout the game.

UMSV hung with St. Joseph's for all four quarters, trailing by just seven at the half and outscoring their opponent slightly in the fourth quarter as they rallied late. The squad battled through pressure defense and found scoring balanced across the lineup, but ultimately came up just short in a tight finish. Kennedy's offense, Ligon's rebounding presence, and contributions from the supporting cast were clear positives the Dolphins can build on moving forward.

The Dolphins turn their attention to Mount Saint Mary College, who they'll take on for the second time this season this upcoming week.
