Old Westbury, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent kept things close on the road, but ultimately came up short. Old Westbury emerged victorious over the Dolphins despite a valiant effort, escaping with a 80-70 win. The result dropped UMSV to 2-18 overall and 1-10 in Skyline play.
It was the
Joel Gado show for the Dolphins offense. The junior put together one of his best scoring efforts of the year with 23 points, the highest among all active players. He did more than just put the ball in the basket - he also found the open man. Gado's four assists tied for the team lead as well.
Eric Woodberry put together yet another robust stat line with 15 points, four boards, four assists, two blocks and a steal. Freshman
Tyler Conlee scored 13 points of his own while leading the Dolphins with seven boards. Lou Vidal knocked down three of four shot attempts, good for seven points, while
Alex Chi four assist performance as well.
UMSV impressed in the first half. Despite trading leads, the Dolphins entered the break on top while shooting 46% from the floor and forcing eight Panthers turnovers. The Dolphins would continue to chip away in the second half, getting within as little as one point off a Gado layup with 6:11 remaining in regulation. Old Westbury, however, held firm, brought their lead up by multiple possessions and held on until the final whistle.
The Dolphins will remain on the road heading into the weekend, where they'll compete in a showdown with Sarah Lawrence.
