Bronxville, NY - The Dolphins returned to conference play on Tuesday, but will have to wait another day for their next Skyline win.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent set their sights on Bronxville this evening, challenging Sarah Lawrence College as the team looked for their third win of the 2025-26 campaign. Despite a valiant comeback attempt in the second half, an early hole was enough to keep the Gryphons on top for good, winning by the score of 72-62.
The Dolphins fell to 2-9 on the year, including a 1-6 record in Skyline play.
Ashley Marrocco had the best outing in her two-year career with the Dolphins. The Staten Island native came off the bench and scored 21 points along with six boards and five steals in 32 minutes, all season highs. Freshman
Jadamarie Henry also finished in double figures with 13 points while junior
Nailea Green had five points to go along with a team-best eight rebounds.
Angelina Escobinas was a staple across the stat sheet, registering seven points, six assists, five rebounds, three steals and a block.
The Dolphins shot just 33% from the floor in the first half, with the Gryphons taking advantage by taking a nine point lead into the break. UMSV, however, found success offensively in the third quarter. Despite trailing by as many as 11 during that time, a surge led by Henry made it a one possession game. The freshman scored nine of her 13 points over that span, bringing the score to 42-40 with less than four minutes remaining. Green found her way to the basket in the ensuing possession to tie the contest at 42 points, with Marrocco recording an assist.
The Dolphins finally took the lead with 1:09 remaining in the third with a Marrocco three ball. Sarah Lawrence, however, would find themselves back on top in the opening minute of the fourth and would hang on until the final whistle.
UMSV will compete in their first game in the new year on their home floor this coming Friday against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn.
