Dolphins Victorious For First Time In 2026, Sweep York

Queens, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent entered the win column for the first time in the 2026 campaign. After a tough opening season loss to Bard College last week, the Dolphins rebounded nicely and swept York College in straight sets, allowing just 27 points along the way (25-12, 25-10, 25-15).

UMSV evened their record out at 1-1 in the early goings of the season.

Jose Dominguez impressed in his second straight collegiate outing, leading the way with seven kills in 14 attempts. He also led the charge with 11 digs to go along with three aces and a block. The impressive trio of Tyler Hanna, Raeden Nieves and Terrence Short each added five kills of their own, while Yestro Luciano Jr. and Luis Urtarte added four apiece.

Matthew Barrancos and Christian Ferrer once again split time at the setter position, and once again found success as a tandem. Barrancos led the charge with 17 assists, with Ferrer following it up with a 10-assist performance of his own. Barrancos also impressed in the serve game with a team-best six aces.

The Dolphins set the tone in the first set after falling behind 10-9. It was then when head coach Jeremiah Huntt saw his team pick up the tempo on both ends, as they outscored the Cardinals 16-2 to secure the first set win, with Luciano Jr. and Barrancos impressing over that span. UMSV would keep the momentum in their favor the rest of the way, with the team never trailing until the final whistle.

The Dolphins return to the road on Friday with the hopes of keeping their winning ways in tact when they challenge Brooklyn College.
