Dolphins Drop Road Contest Against Golden Eagles

Patchogue, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent came up short on Wednesday in a Skyline Conference showdown. The Dolphins challenged St. Joseph's University Long Island in their first road game over the last three games and struggled, falling to the Golden Eagles by the score of 85-70.

The final score dropped UMSV to 2-13 overall, with a 1-5 record in conference play.

The results may have not gone the way head coach James Mooney has hoped, there is light at the end of the tunnel by way of Eric Woodberry. The sophomore continued his breakout sophomore campaign with a 26-point effort on Wednesday, knocking down 50% of his shot attempts while adding five rebounds, four assists and two steals. This was Woodberry's ninth 20+ point performance this season.

Junior Joel Gado returned to form with a double double (17 points, 12 boards) while Louis Vidal added 10 points of his own.

The Dolphins fell into an early five point hole, and the Golden Eagles held the lead for a majority of the first half. That was, however, until Woodberry hit a three pointer, and in the ensuing possession had a put back layup to tie the game at 39 with less than two minutes in the half.

The fortunes at the end of the first didn't translate into the second. The Golden Eagles went on a 9-0 run to open the action, giving the home team enough of a cushion to remain ahead for the remainder of the contest.

The Dolphins will look to reverse their fortunes when they return home on Saturday and challenge St. Joseph's University Brooklyn.
