Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins will look towards Saturday to capture their first home victory in 2026.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent took their home floor once again, this time challenging Manhattanville University in a conference tilt, with its eyes on win number three this season. It what has been a theme this season, the Dolphins showed flashes of strong play and kept things tight, but failed to walk away on top. The Valiants departed the Sharp Center winners by the score of 82-64, dropping UMSV's overall record to 2-12 on the year.
Alex Chi took on the role as top scorer, with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Joel Gado was two rebounds away from a double double with 13 points and eight boards while Blake Salice Mitchell added 13 points, six rebounds and three assists of his own.
Louis Vidal came off the bench and led the team in minutes, all the while shooting 50% from the floor.
The Dolphins trailed from the start of the action, but would keep things close, continuously keeping it a one possession game. UMSV would eventually find their way on top when Gado tied things up with a jumper, grabbed a defensive rebound and converted a pair of free throw attempts in the following possession. Chi, Salice Mitchell, Vidal and
Aidan McCahey would each score to regain leads, with a fastbreak jumper from Vidal giving the Dolphins a four point edge. The Valiants, however, would reverse the script and end the half on a five point run, giving them a 35-31 lead at the break.
Manhattanville gained an uptick on both ends of the floor and saw their lead eventually reach double digits with 12 minutes on the clock. The Dolphins did their best to chip away, with Chi and Vidal three pointers bringing the score within striking distance. But costly turnovers in the waning minutes of action put a halt to the comeback attempt, resulting in the 18 point loss.
UMSV will turn their attention to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, who make their way to Riverdale on Saturday.
