Box Score 2 New London, CT - The University of Mount Saint Vincent competed in a tri-match for the second time in as many weekends, this time taking on Mitchell College and Massachusetts Maritime on the road in Connecticut on Saturday morning. It was a tough day for the Dolphins, as they fell to the Mariners in a tight five set match before being swept by the Buccaneers.
UMSV is now 1-4 to kick off their 2025 season.
Despite the end results, it was another strong day for first year outside hitter
Sienna Martin. She once again led the Dolphins in kills in both contests, registering 11 in each match. The Plainview, New York product now has a team-best 39.5 points and 34 kills in her first five collegiate games. Fellow freshman
Stephanie Rodriguez continued to cement herself in the setter role as well with 31 combined assists.
Transfer junior
Alyssa Padgett added six kills of her own against Mitchell while
Sophia Mandalakis and
Anna Nolasco had five apiece. Sophomore
Paige Staley had a robust stat line against the Mariners with eight assists, eight digs, four kills and a service ace while Padgett, Mandalakis and Nolasco each had a solo block.
Nolasco added four more kills against Massachusetts Maritime while
Dominique Otranto and
Katherine Torres had three apiece. Staley and
Olivia Dutzer paced the Dolphins with two service aces each.
The Dolphins return to action in New Jersey on Tuesday for a matchup against Ramapo.
