Brooklyn, NY - Eight games in and the University of Mount Saint Vincent has yet to suffer a loss.
This time, the Dolphins challenged St. Joseph's University Brooklyn in a mid-week Skyline showdown. Despite the long road trip, UMSV was up for the challenge, as they topped the Bears in a 4-0 shutout while continuing to dominate both ends of the field.
The result put the Dolphins at 7-0-1 in 2025, including 3-0-1 in conference play.
UMSV had an impressive first half offensively. As a team, they not only out-shot their opponents 11 to three but scored three of their four goals as well.
Things started at the 21:54 mark when junior
Jenluis Henriquez was the beneficiary of a strong pass from
William Sornin, who set up the striker to score his first goal of the season. The Dolphins weren't done yet, as sophomore
Marti Senyer took the opportunity to extend the lead to two goals less than two minutes later. Sornin once again did a tremendous job leading Senyer to the goal, with his second assist in the game being his fifth of the season.
Senior
Anthony Rochester reached a milestone with 10 minutes left in the first. The defender, who earned a spot as a starting defender since preseason, converted the first shot attempt of his career to put UMSV up by three.
The dominance of the Dolphins continued into the second half of play. The defense allowed just one total shot over that span, as Rochester,
John Brienza,
Sean Doyle,
Jose Gonzalez and
Trevor Pegg each played a part in the strong collective performance. The one goal that reached net was turned away by sophomore keeper
Samuel Reine, who recorded his fifth shutout of the year.
Luka Gelevski put the cherry on top of the win when he scored his third goal of the season with the help of transfer
David Pulido, who added an assist to the stat line.
UMSV returns home on Saturday with a matchup looming against Farmingdale.
