Dolphins Outlast Baruch in an Epic Five-Set Showdown at the Sharp Center

Bronx, N.Y. – September 23, 2025

The University of Mount Saint Vincent women's volleyball team showed its toughness and resilience on Tuesday evening, rallying from a two-set deficit to stun Baruch College, 3–2, in front of a lively home crowd at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The Dolphins dropped the opening frames 23–25 and 20–25, but stormed back with clutch play to take the final three sets (25–16, 25–23, 15–6) and secure a thrilling Non-Conference victory.

A Rough Start, but a Relentless Response
UMSV (6–5, 0–0 Skyline) struggled to find rhythm early, hitting just .135 in the first set and .148 in the second as Baruch (2–10, 1–0 CUNYAC) capitalized behind a strong 21-kill performance from Dibjot Kaur. Despite the early deficit, the Dolphins refused to back down. The third set was the turning point, with UMSV taking advantage of Baruch's negative hitting percentage and grabbing momentum with a 25–16 win.
Leaders Step Up
From there, the Dolphins' leaders took control.
  • Anna Nolasco paced the attack with 13 kills and 11 digs, delivering in key moments.
  • Sienna Martin followed closely with 12 kills, while Alyssa Padgett chipped in 7.
  • Setting duties were anchored by Stephanie Rodriguez, who finished with 27 assists and added 3 service aces to keep Baruch off balance.
  • Defensively, Carly Snyder, Gabrielle Mills, and Nolasco each tallied 11 digs to keep rallies alive. Snyder also served up 4 aces to spark the Dolphins' comeback.

Closing It Out
With the match tied at two sets apiece, UMSV seized control in the decisive fifth. Behind steady passing and timely kills, the Dolphins raced ahead and never looked back, dominating 15–6 to seal the comeback. The final set underscored UMSV's balanced effort, as the team overcame 4 hitting errors by digging deep and playing their cleanest defense of the night.
