Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent spent pregame in celebration mode on Saturday afternoon, as the women's lacrosse program hosted senior day for six student-athletes playing in their final season in Riverdale in
Alicia Rodriguez,
Macey Forg,
Brooke Frierson, Anjie Santos, Angie Ramos and
Jennifer Brennan. The Dolphins would then compete in Skyline Conference action against Manhattanville University and eventually fell short by the score of 13-7.
The Dolphins are now 1-4 overall in 2025.Â
After falling in an early two goal hole, the Dolphins would find success with a balanced offensive attack. Head coach
Marisa Misuraca saw three different talents score goals, with Forg opening the barrage with a strike at the 6:12 mark. From there,
Isabelle Gurley and
Ella Meberg would go back-to-back, giving UMSV a 3-2 lead with less than two minutes to go in the first quarter.Â
The Valiants would then go on a seven goal streak of their own, one that started at the tail end of the first quarter and would last until mid-way through the third to make it a 9-3 game. Meberg would socre her second of the night to end the team's scoring struggles and would later complete a hat trick in the fourth quarter. Gurley would have another shot attempt find the back of the net as well while Frierson scored goal number two of the season.Â
Goaltender
Makenna Reekie made 17 saves in the loss while also scooping a team-best seven ground balls. In addition to two goals, Gurley would lead the way in caused turnovers (three) and draw controls (five).Â
The Dolphins will hit the road on Wednesday and challenge Old Westbury.Â
