Autobee Notches 100 Career Strikes in Sweep Over Bulldogs

Brooklyn, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent took a pause in Skyline play during Spring Break. The Dolphins hit the road to Brooklyn to challenge Brooklyn College, looking to tack on wins to their overall record while simultaneously preparing for more conference action to close out the regular season. UMSV accomplished what they set out to do with a two-game sweep over the Bulldogs by the scores of 10-6 and 6-3.

Not only did the Dolphins accomplish success as a team, but pitcher Savannah Autobee did so on a personal level. The junior hurler recorded five strikeouts in game two, giving her an even 100 for her career.

UMSV started hot in game one, scoring a run in each of the first two innings. Sophomore Paige Goerman kicked things off with an RBI double in the first, with freshman Samantha Aviles following suit with a run scoring single to center in the second inning. Brooklyn would go on to make a comeback, plating three runs in the fourth inning to jump out to a lead.

The back and forth would continue the following inning. Aviles and Ireyshka Lebron would combine to bring home two runs in top of the fifth before the Bulldogs would respond in the next half inning, once again bringing the game to a tie. From there, however, the Dolphins would jump out on top for good. The seventh inning saw Lebron, Sabrina Colon and Sierra Romero add RBI singles to the stat sheet, with Aaliyah Dejesus also bringing home Emma Capozucca on an error.

Freshmen Paige Staley and Elizabeth Espinosa split the day on the mound and combined for five strikeouts. Goerman and Aviles would lead the way with three hits each while Lebron paced the team with three RBI.

The Dolphins would once again come from behind in game two. After jumping out to a lead off a Goerman fielder's choice in the first. Brooklyn would charge back with two runs in the fourth to give the home team an advantage. Colon would come through in the late innings with a clutch bases clearing triple in the fifth, followed up RBI from both Capozucca and Chloe Hart to finish off Brooklyn.

Autobee went the distance, allowing just three runs with the aforementioned strikeout total in seven innings.

It'll be a quick turnaround for the Dolphins. They'll challenge Manhattanville University in 24 hours as they look to further their surge towards the postseason tournament.
