Madison, NJ - The University of Mount Saint Vincent kicked off Spring Break, taking on Drew in non-conference action. The Dolphins held a late lead over the Rangers, but late inning heroics by the host squad led to a loss, with UMSV losing by the score of 7-5.
The result dropped the Dolphins' overall record to 16-11.
It was a hard fought out road game, with the Dolphins set the tone early. Junior backstop John Anthony Spanoudakis started things off with an RBI groundout in the first inning, driving home Dom Porto.
Drew would score a run in the bottom of the first of their own, but the Dolphins would once again get on the board. They responded with two runs in the second inning off the bats of sophomore Zach Turko, who hit an RBI single to center field, and Porto, who hit a double. Porto would once again do the job, hitting a sacrifice in the fourth to make it a 4-3 game in favor of the Dolphins.
The Rangers would regain the lead in the seventh inning, but it would be the Dolphins who once again would gain an advantage. Conor Martin, who is in the midst of a breakout 2025 campaign, hit his fourth home run of the season in the top half of the eighth to knot the game at five. Unfortunately for UMSV, Drew would capitalize in the bottom half of the inning to walk away winners.
Freshman Keylon Canela received the start for the Dolphins and impressed with four strikeouts across five frames of work. Martin had a team-high three hits while Porto led the way with a pair of RBI.
Spring Break rolls on for the Dolphins as they take on Penn State Abington on Friday.
