Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team made their way to Manhattanville on Tuesday evening for a Skyline Conference match. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the hosting Valiants were victorious in all sets (25-12, 25-18, 25-9).
Manhattanville saw an early lead that UMSV struggled to recover from, however freshman

James Rose were able to get the Dolphins on the board.
Despite dropping the first set, the Dolphins put on a strong performance in the second. Early kills from Rose and Short gave UMSV a 5-3 lead, however the Valiants responded with three straight points to put them ahead. The Dolphins trailed by just a few points, but a late 3-0 sparked by a kill from sophomore
Yestro Luciano Jr. gave UMSVÂ a glimpse of hope until errors from the Dolphins allowed Manhattanville to take the set.Â
The home team jumped to a 5-0 lead to start the third set. UMSV struggled to score, while Manhattanville went on multiple runs to secure both the set and match.Â
Rose finished the night with 8 digs, 5 kills, and a block assist, while Short registered 5 kills and 4 digs. Junior
Matthew Barrancos helped the Dolphins with 15 assists, 8 digs, and two block assists. Ibitayo added 4 kills, 3 digs, and a block assist and Luciano Jr. added 2 kills, 2 digs, and 2 block assists.Â
Now 2-6 in conference, and 3-12 overall, the Dolphins will look to secure a win this Saturday, March 15, as they compete in a tri-match hosted by Hunter College.Â
