Dolphins Win First Game of the Season on the Road

New Haven, CT - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team started their 2025 season with a non-conference game on the road. Saturday morning the Dolphins headed to Albertus Magnus College and returned to Riverdale with a dominant 18-4 win.

It was freshman Elvis Prempeh who set the tone for the Dolphins, scoring his first collegiate goal in the first three minutes of play. Not long after, junior Isaac Parsons and freshman Nigel Walker would score back-to-back goals, securing an early lead for the Dolphins. UMSV continued their strong first-quarter play and led 6-2 after the first fifteen minutes. The Dolphins held the Falcons scoreless the entire second quarter, while scoring 4 of their own goals, good for a 10-2 lead. The visiting Dolphins continued to dominate in both the third and fourth quarters. Coach James Fitzgerald saw tremendous performances from multiple Dolphins, with seven finishing with at least one goal.

Senior Ryan Jean-Pharuns impressed with 4 goals on 8 shots on goal, while Parsons and Walker both had a hat trick. Senior Jake Luxoro was all over the stat sheet with five ground balls, 4 caused turnovers, two goals, and an assist. Prempeh finished with 4 goals of his own, along with two ground balls and an assist. Fellow freshman Brandon Mestres also had a memorable first game of his college career, finishing with 9 ground balls, two caused turnovers, and a goal.

The Dolphins will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday in another non-conference game against Moravian, this time on their home field at Marillac.
