Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent rounded out their first month of games on Tuesday evening, taking on SUNY New Paltz in the team's third home game on the Peter Jay Sharp Center court. The Hawks, winners in three of their four games this season, departed back to New Paltz winners by the score of 81-41.
The Dolphins are now 1-4 through five games this season.
Head Coach
Maria Di Domenico saw the anticipated return of sophomore
Grace Kennedy, who was all over the stat sheet in limited minutes due to a return from injury. Kennedy tied for the team lead in both points and rebounds while also pacing the team with four assists, three steals and one block. Junior foward
Nailea Green matched Kennedy with four points and seven boards of her own while
Julia Angeles,
Sofia Marcos and
Kyla McLean each pulled down six rebounds as well.
Freshman
Alexa Zephirin had just four points as well, but she continously attacked the Hawks defense, as she went to the charity stripe five times.
Ashley Marrocco and
Alissa Zephirin came off the bench and scored three points apiece.
The tough matchup gives the Dolphins time to rebound. They'll return to the Sharp Center next Wednesday as they resume Skyline action against Yeshiva.
