Patchogue, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent competed in their second straight conference game on Saturday, this time taking a road trip to Patchogue to challenge St. Joseph's University Long Island. The Dolphins first Skyline win of the year will have to come at a later date, as they dropped the game to the Golden Eagles by the score of 48-38.
The team is now 1-3 through their first four games this season.
While the end result wasn't what the team expected, junior
Nailea Green continued her fantastic start to the year. The Long Island native posted a double double in her second straight game with a 16-point, 10 rebound performance. Green led the team in both categories while playing in 25 minutes.
Julian Angeles added five points and four rebounds to go along with a pair of steals.
AB Burnett had five points of her own while
Angelina Escobinas,
Alexa Zephirin and
Casey Mulvey each had two assists. Escobinas also led the Dolphins with three steals.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a nine point lead in the first quarter, putting the Dolphins in a hole they struggled climbing out of. UMSV found success in the second quarter, with a big
Gretta Baker three making it a two point game with 5:05 left on the clock before halftime. That, unfortunately, would be as close as the Dolphins would get before time expired.
Next up for the Dolphins is New Paltz, who make their way to Riverdale on Tuesday.
