Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins will continue their fight to get their first win of the season.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent was back on the Sharp Center floor, this time playing host to Lehman College in non-conference action. The Dolphins battled from behind for a majority of the contest and weren't able to get in front before the final buzzer, with the score finishing at 78-58 in favor of the Lightning.
UMSV is now 0-4 to start their season.
Junior transfer
Joel Gado had a strong night for the Dolphins. The Rancho Cucamunga, California forward paced his team with 12 points while shooting 50% from the floor and securing nine rebounds. Junior
Louis Vidal added nine points, five rebounds, one block and one assist to his season stat line. Starters
Gerard Novello and
Eric Woodberry each scored eight points while
Nick Rivera came off the bench with a seven point, four rebound performance.
The ball was flowing early and often for the Dolphins offense. Both Vidal and Gado scored in consecutive possession to open the game, with Novello and guard
Aidan McCahey adding assists. From there, Lehman would turn the tide, as they would take the lead at 5-4 and never look back. To UMSV's credit, they stayed at pace with Lehman throughout the first half, even trailing by as little as three points with seven minutes remaining in the half.
The Dolphins quest for win number one rolls into Saturday when they take on Brooklyn College in Riverdale.
