Dolphins, Golden Eagles Battle To 0-0 Draw

Riverdale, NY - The Skyline Conference's top two teams went to battle on Marillac Field and proved exactly why they're in the positions they're in.

The University of Mount Saint Vincent and St. Joseph's University Long Island entered Wednesday with the top two records in the stands - and neither team escaped with the win. The hard fought battle resulted in a 0-0 draw, as UMSV has yet to have a game enter the loss column this season. They're now 8-0-2 with a 4-0-2 conference mark.

The Dolphins defense did a tremendous job in limiting the Golden Eagles' attack throughout the first half. John Brienza, Sean Doyle, Jacob Grieffenberger, Jose Gonzalez and Arav Kumar held SJLI to zero first half shots. The opposition found an uptick in attempts in the second, but goalkeeper Samuel Reine saved all three shots that faced him, one of which came in a one-on-one opportunity with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

The offense had seven total shot attempts of their own, including five in the second half. Reigning Skyline Offensive Player of the Week Jenluis Henriquez tied for the team lead with two shots, as he, William Sornin and Javier Trujillo each had good looks to put their team on the board.

The result may have not went in the Dolphins favor, but they continue to hold the best record in the conference. They'll look to add to their win totals this weekend when Mount Saint Mary makes their way to Riverdale.
