Riverdale, NY - A banner year for the UMSV men's soccer program just received more recognition - but this time, individually.
The Dolphins capped off a record setting 2025 campaign in a win over Purchase College on Wednesday, one that clinched a Skyline Conference regular season title while also ranking fifth in the region. The conference also released their year-end awards on Friday afternoon, and UMSV was well represented.
Standout junior
Trevor Pegg, who anchored the Dolphins back line all season long, was named the Skyline's Defensive Player of the Year while also being a First Team All-Conference selection. The Darien, Connecticut product led a defense that allowed the lowest goal and shots totals among all Skyline Conference programs. Pegg appeared and started in 13 games this season, logging nearly 1200 minutes of game action while adding three assists.
In addition to Pegg, midfielder
Jose Gonzalez was also named First Team All-Skyline. The Maritime transfer left his mark on the Dolphins in a short span, as he was a major reason behind the team's possession game while setting things up both offensively and defensively. Gonzalez scored two goals and added an assist while appearing and starting in 13 contests.
The Dolphins were also well represented on the Second Team.
Midfielder Sebastian Ciurlizza and
Samuel Reine were both named Second Team All-Conference for the second straight campaign. Ciurlizza was the driving force behind the Dolphins' final three games, as he combined to score give goals over that span. Reine allowed the least among of goals among all conference keepers and finished tied for first in shutouts and fourth in saves.
Sophomore
John Brienza earned the selection after being a consistent member of the team's dominant starting defense. Manual Vidal, a fellow first-time selection, left his mark despite seeing his season slowed due to injury. Vidal was the team's top striker, scoring eight goals in just seven games.
First year head coach
Max Watson took home Coach of the Year honors after leading the Dolphins to an unbeaten season, going 13-0-2 in his debut season at the helm of the program.
The Dolphins are set for a semifinal showdown in Riverdale, taking on the winner of Manhattanville vs. Farmingdale for a spot in the Skyline Conference final.
