Riverdale, NY - Being home for the first time in 2025 brought the Dolphins one of their best wins of the season.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent's entire roster shined on Thursday afternoon when they took on conference foe Old Westbury. The Dolphins returned to the win column in impressive fashion, defeating the panthers 82-22 on the Sharp Center floor, with 19 different players scoring at least one basket.
UMSV not only went one game over .500 but also improved their Skyline record to 5-3 on the year, good for fifth in the conference.
A new face was featured at the top of head coach
Maria Nardulli's scorers. Trasnfer
Ashley Marrocco had an incredibly efficient game for the Dolphins, as she scored 14 points on six-of-eight shooting in just nine minutes of game action.
Angelina Escobinas may have been the lone player to not register a point, but it was because she was too busy setting up her teammates. The first year point guard impressed all game long, registering a season-best 12 assists while grabbing three rebounds along with a pair of steals.
Sophomore
Nailea Green once again was a force on the glass with a team-best seven rebounds.
The familar faces did their job early and often. The starting five of
JaKaia Lotz,
Gretta Baker,
Erin Smith,
Kayla Hanley and
Michaela Ligon gave their team enough of a cushion to allow the reserves to shine. The unit of
Sofia Marcos,
Olivia Dutzer,
Isabelle Bagon,
Lexi Tucker and
Casey Mulvey entered the game together and specifically impressed. The five went on a combined 16-0 between the end of the third and into the fourth; Marcos and Dutzer each had five points, Tucker had four points and four boards, Mulvey added four points, three rebounds and two assists while Bagon ran the offense with three assists of her own.
Valentina Errichiello,
Sophia Mandalakis,
Makayla Rader and
Folasade Alli-Balogun each recorded the first points of the collegiate career as well.
The Dolphins will look to carry the momentum into their weekend matchup against the United States Merchant Marine Academy out in King's Point.
