Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's women's lacrosse team closed out their regular season schedule in grand fashion, as they topped Purchase College by the impressive score of 19-1 on the Panthers' home turf. The victory keeps the Dolphins playoff hopes alive, and the program will keep their eyes on the Skyline Conference schedule's conclusion taking place over this coming weekend.
UMSV finished the 2024 season with a 5-9 overall record, including winning three of eight conference games.
Head coach
Meaghan Smith saw her team put the game away within the opening minutes of the contest. Despite being a woman down due to a penalty, UMSV would open the scoring as both
Ella Meberg and
Alicia Rodriguez would convert shot attempts despite being at a disadvantage. Senior Alyssa La Torre would join the scoring frenzy just seven minutes later, giving her team a three goal edge.
The Panthers would close out the opening quarter with a goal on the board, but that would be the last the team would score. The Easton, Pennsylvania native also recorded 17 draw controls, 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers in the victory. Meberg would add four goals of her own, a season-high, with La Torre and breakout junior
Macey Forg both having a hat trick each. Freshmen
Laziza Azimova and
Isabella Melecio would combine for three goals of her own while sophomore defender
Angelina Cardone recorded her first goal of the season.
Freshman defender
Dayonna Thomas had the best game of her collegiate career, as she tied Rodriguez with a game-best five caused turnovers. Forg would add six ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls as well. Goalkeepers
Makenna Reekie and

With conference games still on the horizon, the team awaits their fate for the upcomong postseason tournament.
