Old Westbury, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent kept their winning ways in tact on Tuesday evening, as the Dolphins traveled to Long Island and toppled Old Westbury in three sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-21). It was the team's third straight Skyline Conference victory after securing wins against Manhattanville and Sarah Lawrence College, bringing their record to 8-7 against the conference.
It was a terrific all-around performance for a Dolphins team that has truly found their groove.
Kyle Thompson emerged as
Harris Boyes' go-to hitter, with his 18 kills against the Panthers registering as a season-high.
Kevin Erhand also finished in double figures with 12 of his own while
James Rose had six in the win.
Sophomore setter
Matthew Barrancos was all over the stat sheet as he continued to put together a strong 2024 campaign. The Elmhurst, New York native recorded 38 assists, his sixth game this season with 30 or more helpers, while also leading the way with three aces.
Olatomiwa Ibitayo had two blocks while
Tristen Hood added one of his own. Like Thompson, Paulino had one of his best games of the year, as his 19 digs were also a season-best total.
The Dolphins are set to host St. Joseph's University Brooklyn in their final home game of the year on Thursday before wrapping up the regular season on Saturday in a tri-match in Brooklyn against the Bears and St. Joseph's University Long Island. The will look to clinch a playoff berth for the second straight season in the final weekend.
