Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Dolphins Struggle On Road Against Maritime

Throggs Neck, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team went to battle with Maritime College out in Throggs Neck on Wednesday night - and while the Dolphins played a fantastic first quarter, the team struggled to continue the momentum into the rest of the contest, eventually losing by the score of 15-8. It's the second straight contest against Skyline Conference competition where the Dolphins looked the part of a contender against top teams, a sign that the program is headed in the right direction.

UMSV is now 5-7 overall and 1-3 against the conference.

The Privateers got on the board almost immediately, as they scored within the first minute of action. The Dolphins, however, remained strong, working the ball around on offense which resulted in Jacob Cochran's 20th goal of the season, with junior Ryan Jean-Pharuns racking up the assist. Maritime would answer less than one minute later, but UMSV would once again knot things up, as Cochran converted his second shot of the evening to tie things up.

Unfortunately for the Dolphins, that would be the final score until the fourth quarter. Maritime, meanwhile, would go on to score 16 unanswered goals between the end of the first quarter until the middle of the third to propel them to victory. Jean-Pharuns, Chai Dunlap and Isaac Parsons would add scores to their season totals over the final 15 minutes of action.

Jean-Pharuns finished with a team-best three points after recording a goal with two assists. Defenseman Jake Luxoro scooped four ground balls while Walker Moore, Chris Meenan and Adrian Guillermo had a caused turnover each. Goalkeeper Mark Lulgjuraj made five saves in the first half while Moore entered net and made eight over the final 30 minutes.

The Dolphins will look to keep their playoff hopes alive this Saturday when they take on Manhattanville on Marillac Field.
