Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team went to battle against Purchase College inside the Sharp Center for the second time this month - and unfortunately for the Dolphins, they suffered a similar fate. After dropping a five set thriller to the Panthers in the third game of a Skyline Conference tri-match, UMSV fell to Purchase in three consecutive sets by the scores of 21-25, 20-25 and 23-25. The loss puts the Dolphins at a 4-6 record against the Skyline and 6-10 overall this season.
Despite the final result, the outside trio of
Kyle Thompson,
Kevin Erhand and
James Rose continued to excel, a theme throughout this current season. Thompson led the way for the Dolphins with 11 kills, the lone Dolphin to reach double figures. The Wantagh, New York native also added three service aces to his totals. Erhand and Rose combined for 15 kills and seven aces of their own, with the aforementioned three combining for 37 of the team's 44 total points.
Setter
Matthew Barrancos had his seventh game with 25 or more assists, with his 27 helpers giving him 310 this season.
Felix Paulino added six digs in the libero role while Rose and freshman
Yestro Luciano Jr. each had a solo block.
The Dolphins head out to Patchogue to continue Skyline Conference action on Saturday morning.
