Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Drops Game To Drew On Road

Madison, NJ - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team was back on the road on Monday, looking to pick up their second win of the season in a non-conference showdown with Drew University. There were positives throughout the matchup, but the outcome wasn't what head coach Harris Boyes desired, as the Dolphins lost in four sets (14-25, 18-25, 25-21, 18-25).

The Dolphins are now 1-4 through their first five games of the 2024 season.

Olatomiwa Ibitayo had a tremendous game for the Dolphins as he continues to develop into a reliable middle. The Elmont, New York native led the way with 11 kills for his team - the only player to reach double figures in that category - while also adding a pair of blocks. Kevin Erhand was all over the court for UMSV, as he collected 12 digs, 10 assists, five kills and two aces as he continues to thrive as the team's go-to player. Carlos Martinez stepped up for his team and led the way with 15 digs while Felix Paulino added 10 digs and four kills. Yestro Luciano Jr. posted the highest blocks totals of his young career with three as well.

The Dolphins displayed great resilience in the third set victory. They trailed by as many as six points in the early going, but slowly chipped away. Coach Boyes saw contributions from all over his roster, including Luciano Jr. registering both of his kills to give his team a three point lead. Ibitayo, Erhand, Paulino and James Rose each stepped up as well when they combined for the Dolphins final five kills of the set.

The Dolphins open Skyline Conference play this weekend when they travel to Sarah Lawrence College to take on the Gryphons and New Jersey City University.
