Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team closed out their regular season schedule with a loss against St. Joseph's University Long Island on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins battled valiantly despite being undermanned despite the nine point loss to the Golden Eagles. The final score didn't play a part in the team's upcoming objective of winning the Skyline Conference tournament, as UMSV's 8-8 conference record this year was good enough to earn the seventh seed in the postseason. The Dolphins are set to challenge #2 Yeshiva University in the opening round on Tuesday.
Freshman standout
Connor Wein finished out his first season in Riverdale in strong fashion. The Theills, New York native led the Dolphins with 19 points and three steals while also adding three rebonds and an assist. Junior
Adrian Rraci had a tremendous overall game for UMSV himself, as his 12 points and 10 boards were good enough for his first double-double of the season, and his seven assists also registered as a season-high.
DJ Tucker added 10 rebounds and six points of his own while
Louis Vidal chipped in with nine points and a pair of steals.
All eyes will be set on Furst Gymnasium in 48 hours. The Dolphins snapped an 11-game losing streak against that Maccabees that spanned across five season just last week when they defeated Yeshiva 82-74 on the road. They'll look to keep the positive momentum in their favor and advance to the Skyline Conference semifinal game for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
