Bronx, NY - The Dolphins will have to wait another day to pick up their first win of the year.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team returned to the court for the first time season their season opener, this time traveling to nearby Lehman College to challenge the Lightning in non-conference action. UMSV clawed back from a large first half hole but weren't able to overcome their early struggles, as they would go on to lose to Lehman by the score of 82-73.
Freshman
Josiah Basket had a fantastic scoring performance in just his second collegiate game. The New Jersey product paced the Dolphins with 18 points in 24 minutes of action.
DJ Tucker, one of the program's top returners, was all over the box score for UMSV, as he recorded 14 points, seven boards, four assists and four steals. Guard
Kevin Agyemang shot 50% from both the field and beyond the arc, good for 13 points to go along with four steals.
Freshman guard
Aidan McCahey received the first start of his young career and rewarded head coach
James Mooney by converting all three of his three-point attempts, good for nine points.
After a rough first half of action - one where the Dolphins would trail by 14 points - UMSV would continuously chip away at Lehman's lead. The Dolphins would cut the deficit to as little as five points, once when Agyemang would find a streaking Tucker for a fast break layup, and another when Basket knocked down his first three ball of the evening at the 4:33 mark.
Despite the loss, the Dolphins continue to chip away. They'll look to get into the win column for the first time this season on Friday against William Paterson University.
