New York - The Dolphins will have to wait until Thursday for their next crack at a conference victory.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent had the tough task of facing off against two powerhouse Skyline opponents in Manhattanville University and St. Joseph's University Long Island. The Dolphins put together strong efforts in back-to-back games, but it wasn't enough to win either, as UMSV lost in consecutive sets to both the Valiants and Golden Eagles, bringing their conference record to 1-8.
UMSV gave it their best against the Golden Eagles, as head coach
Joseph Chojnacki's squad would score 17 and 18 points in the first and third sets, respectively.
Graduate student
Melanieann Broderick led the way for the Dolphins offensively, with her nine kills not only a team-best but also extended her season total to 177. Both senior
Lydia Aryee and freshman
Paige Staley had strong afternoons as setters, with the duo combining for 15 assists. The Dolphins would find success in the serving game, as Aryee,
JaKaia Lotz and
Emma Contes would each have a pair of service aces in the loss. Broderick also added 13 digs to her stat line while freshman
Sophia Madalakis recorded a season-high four blocks.
The Dolphins will look to return to the win column on Tuesday against the City College of New York.
