Dolphins Return To Winning Ways Against Knights

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team avenged their early season loss to Mount Saint Mary College on Tuesday evening when they defeated the Knights at home by the score of 80-73. The final score wasn't indicative of the strong play of the Dolphins, as James Mooney's squad held a double digit lead for the majority of the action. The win improved the team's conference record to 6-5, placing the Dolphins in a tie for third place in the Gold Division.

Lead guard Joshua Cabezudo went down just 10 minutes into his evening with a leg injury, giving the chance for his teammates to step up and take his place offensively. The team did just that, and as a collective unit, as UMSV saw four players reach double figures, including freshman Connor Wein, he scored 20 of his own. The Thiells, New York native has shown flashes throughout his first year in Riverdale, as he consistently found space in the paint.

Fellow classmate Louis Vidal, too, found success in his return to the starting lineup. Vidal found a home in the corner, shooting an even 50% from beyond the arc to score a career-high 14 points. His name was found all over the stat sheet, as he also added three steals, two rebounds, an assist and a block. Standout DJ Tucker may have scored just 12 points, but his presence defensively as well as in the transition game was a boon to the Dolphins. He paced the team with six assists and six boards, consistently finding the open man. He put the cherry on top of the win when he broke free of Mount Saint Mary's press, where senior Adrian Rraci found him at the opposite end of the floor, where he threw down a thunderous dunk with seconds left.

Kevin Agyemang worked around early foul trouble and also succeed for the Dolphins. The transfer from Dracut, Massachusetts had 17 points of six-of-10 shooting while adding five rebounds, four assists, four steals and a block. Both Gerard Novello and Frank Camastro brought a ton of energy off the bench.

The Dolphins will look to keep up their winning ways into the weekend when they challenge Manhattanville College on the road on Saturday.
