Dolphins Return To Win Column On The Road Against Yeshiva

New York, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team found their way back in the win column on Wednesday after a 61-54 road win over Yeshiva University. UMSV swept the season series against the Maccabees, all the while improving their Skyline Conference record to 9-3 across 12 contests. It was also the Dolphins' first conference win over their last three tries after tough losses to both Manhattanville College and Mount Saint Mary College.

The first half saw the Dolphins explode for 22 points on 43% shooting from the floor, giving the team a seven point lead which was enough to overcome struggles throughout the rest of the first half. UMSV also found a ton of success on the boards, outrebounding Yeshiva 55-29 while recording an even 20 points off of offensive boards.

The Dolphins held the lead throughout the first half and into the third quarter until the 5:55 mark. UMSV responded, however, as Kayla Hanley, Magan Jackson and Julia Angeles each scored to help put their team back up, and for good.

Jackson continued her strong first season as a Dolphin, scoring 12 points and eight boards in her 16th start for head coach Maria Nardulli. Amber Been was a tremendous boost off the bench, scoring 13 points with nine rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in 26 minutes of action. Kira Villegas added eight points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists of her own while Julia Angeles grabbed eight rebounds off the bench as well.

The Dolphins welcome St. Joseph's University Brooklyn to Riverdale this weekend as they look to improve their win streak to two games.
