Dolphins Surge Past Purchase For First Conference Win Of The Season

Box Score Purchase, NY - After a tough three set loss to Farmingdale on Tuesday, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team rebounded in a major way on Thursday afternoon. The Dolphins, who traveled up the line to take on Purchase College, swept the Panthers in consecutive sets to secure their first Skyline Conference victory of the 2023 season. The win improved CMSV's overall record to 4-5.

It was an overall strong performance by a Dolphins team that saw contributions from all over the roster. Marcus Davilla's unit trailed by four points at the most in a game that was overwhelmingly in their favor. Senior Melanieann Broderick impressed in her Thursday night performance, leading the way with nine kills and five service aces while totaling 14.5 points in the game. Freshman hitter Adelina Elezaj tied Broderick for the team-best kills mark while senior Elizabeth Flores and freshman Jocelyn Castro combined for 11 of their own.

Fifth-year athlete Brianna Ayuso returned to the setter role against the Panthers and shined with a game-best 23 assists. Senior libero Isabella Garcia added seven digs, three aces and three assists to her season totals while Castro also registered four blocks.

The Dolpnins return to non-conference play this weekend in southern New Jersey, where they'll challenge Stockton University and Widener University in a tri-match.
