Farmingdale, NY - It was the Skyline Conference opener for the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team, and they were tested right away with a matchup against the tough Farmingdale State College on Long Island on Tuesday evening. The Dolphins hung with the Rams all game long, but it wasn't enough to secure the win, as CMSV fell in straight sets by the scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-22.
Despite the result, CMSV battled throughout, tying the game both at the 11 point mark in the second set and the 20 point mark in the third. Another positive for
Marcus Davila's squad was yet another strong performance from his first year crop of talent. On the hitting side, it was
Adelina Elezaj who paced the Dolphins with eight kills. Freshman
Nicole Sullivan added 11 more assists to her 2023 stat line, giving her 142 on the season, good for sixth among Skyline setters.
Jocelyn Castro remained strong in the front of the net, with her two blocks giving her a team-best 12 through eight games.
It wasn't only that trio who impressed. Senior libero
Isabella Garcia furthered her strong senior campaign with the Dolphins with 15 digs, and a pair of service aces while fellow senior
Elizabeth Flores chipped in offensively with four kills and defensively with 13 digs.
Conference play rolls on for the Dolphins, with their next challenger coming in the form of Purchase College. CMSV will face off against the Panthers on the road this coming Thursday.
