Dolphins Cruise To Three Set Victory Over CCNY

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team continued their success on the Peter Jay Sharp Center court on Thursday evening, as the team improved to 3-0 at home in the early goings when they went on to defeat the City College of New York in straight sets. Head coach Marcus Davila utilized a large portion of his roster in the victory, with contributions coming from a number of Dolphins.

CMSV set the tone of the evening in the early goings of the first set. The Dolphins jumped out 8-0 lead to get things going, with senior leader Elizabeth Flores securing two service aces over that span, while Melanieann Broderick, Dominique Otranto and Adelina Elezaj each recording kills.

Brianna Ayuso, Samantha Rapp, Olivia Dutzer and Katelynn Fanjul subbed into the contest and each picked up points in a set that saw the Dolphins win 25-12.

The second set was more of the same for CMSV. The Dolphins won 25-13, with multiple members of the team chipping in. Broderick had eight kills while Nicole Sullivan had 10 assists. The Beavers charged back in the third set, but CMSV was able to put the game away despite things getting close. It was there where freshman Jocelyn Castro shined with three blocks and a kill.

For the Dolphins, it was Broderick who posted a game-high 11 kills while Sullivan added 21 assists. Senior Isabella Garcia paced the Dolphins with 10 digs while Castro, Elezaj and Lydia Aryee combined for nine blocks. Ayuso added six assists of her own while Flores and freshman Riley Nichtern had four service aces apiece.

The Dolphins will look to continue their winning ways when they open Skyline Conference play on Tuesday in a contest against Farmingdale State.
