Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lamas Scores Two As Dolphins Improve To .500

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team continued their stretch of home games on Thursday evening, this time taking on the Hunter College Hawks. The Dolphins were able to improve to an even .500 record with the 2-0 victory, with First Team All-Skyline recipient Ian Lamas powering the team with both goals.

The Dolphins now sit at 2-2 with Skyline Conference play on the horizon.

Lamas' first goal came 16 minutes into the contest, with freshman Franklin Hernandez securing the first assist of his collegiate career. Both before the score change and after, the Dolphins dominated the time of possession, and it was reflected in the statistics. Despite scoring just two goals, CMSV took 21 total shots, including eight on goal, compared to just 14 total shots by the Hawks. The Dolphins also played a more physical brand of soccer with 18 fouls.

The second half was more of the same. The defense of Donovan Speer, Justin Betancourt, Cesar Mendez and Nicholas Carvalho each played their role in an impressive fashion, while goalkeeper Joel Luna made thre saves in the shutout. The second goal off the foot of Lamas put the game away for good, with Speer registering the assist off a throw in.

Lamas now has a team-high four goals while Luna lowered his goals against average on the year to just 0.94.

Conference play commences on Tuesday as the Dolphins travel to Purchase to take on the Manhattanville College Valiants.
